Surfra vs RunPod

RunPod is a great cloud. Surfra lets you use more than one.

RunPod Serverless runs your workers on RunPod. Surfra runs a queue and autoscaling over your own RunPod account, and over every other cloud you connect, so a sold-out card is a fallback instead of an outage.

Honest take

When to pick which.

Pick RunPod Serverless if

You are happy on one provider, RunPod has the GPUs you need in stock, and fast cold starts matter more than anything else. It is a polished product.

Pick Surfra if

You want to keep RunPod and add cheaper capacity like Salad, or you have been burned by a card selling out. You want your own workstation in the same pool. Or you want the cloud bill in your own account with nothing added on top.

Use both

RunPod works great as a row.

FAQ

Common questions

Can I use Surfra with my existing RunPod account?

Yes. Connect your RunPod API key and add RunPod rows to an app. Surfra starts pods in your account and RunPod bills you directly.

Is Surfra a RunPod alternative or a RunPod add-on?

Either. Some teams use Surfra to run on RunPod plus other clouds. Others move to cheaper clouds and keep RunPod as the fallback.

Keep RunPod. Add everything else.
